HISTORY

Started as a general contractor in 1990 by a third generation Oklahoman, Caston Construction Company has grown to be one of the leading renovation contractors in Oklahoma City. The Caston name has beed involved in the lumber, millwork and development business in Oklahoma City since the 1920's. Caston Construction Company's specialty has been the renovation of structures that have become obsolete; either by change of use and occupant or the wearing-out of the improvements. The "tenant-finish" portion of our client portfolio includes most of the prominent Central Oklahoma property managers and building owners.

Most of our projects require that work be accomplished without disturbance to their surrounding occupants. Intense pre-construction management of the project provides the anticipation and identification of potential disturbing construction events. A coordinative effort among all associated with the construction team allows the appropriate scheduling for this to occur.

As early as the pre-bid review of the project, we consider Value Engineering as an essential process for all of our projects. In our review, we identify systems and methods that might allow the project to be completed faster, cleaner or more economically. This enables our Subs and Suppliers to price our contemplated modifications in their first pricing pass. The optimal process involves a working relationship and good communications among this same Project Team: Architect, Owner and Contractor. This ability to recognize alternate methods and materials has proven to be a significant factor in the contractor selection and preliminary budgeting stages of our successful projects.

We also try to "Do More", working hard to communicate these concepts with the construction team at an early stage; allowing the option of modifying the necessary documents. Construction schedules are formulated early and attached to subcontracts for effective communication; they are kept simple and updated as required. Regularly scheduled construction meetings have proven to be a vital component to the timely progression of the project. Finally, construction close-out manuals and as-built drawings must be transferred to a common authority to document a singular improvement to the overall building.
